I took a bottle of this on a 17 day trip overseas. I didn’t believe that it was really 20 washes worth of shampoo in the tiny travel size, so I took a bar shampoo as back-up. I washed my hair about 10 times on the trip and the bottle is definitely half full. I never touched the bar. This lathers up quickly and is super easy to use by lathering in your hands or shaking directly onto hair and working it. I will be using it on more trips for sure.
Easy to use, lathers up well, feel clean after use, like the fragrance, good for the environment!
Thanks, Mark! Glad it's easy, lathers well, and leaves you feeling clean — and love that the environmental side matters to you too, that's very much the point of The Energising Body Foam Wash.
I initially bought the shampoo for reasons of ecology (in refillable aluminum cans). Second, I liked what the company said about their products and ingredients. I have aging, thinning hair that is also being affected by medications I take. Further, my scalp has become a ton more sensitive - likely a a result of aging and the medications changing the scalp environment I would guess. So, the shampoos have been a game changer for me. I am not getting the scalp irritation for the most part (decreased by almost 100 percent I would say) AND my hair looks much better in terms of smoothness and fullness. It seems to "hang in" there longer without looking stringy as thin hair can tend to do...I have used the shampoo and conditioner in a yellow can for thinning hair, the one in the green can for irritated scalps and most recently, the moisturizing one in in the lavender can (which has an intoxicating end scent to it) and all work beautifully! My hair is still too thin but the shedding that I expected to occur this time of year especially really has not occurred and my hair looks fuller and shinier. I feel that if things continue on this path, I will not be inclined to use any hair regrowth therapeutics, that I can live with what I've got.
This is such a moving review to read, thank you for taking the time to write it all out. Going from near-constant scalp irritation to almost none, plus fuller, shinier hair that's holding up through a season where you expected shedding — that's exactly the kind of change we hope for, especially for something as personal as hair changes from aging and medication.
It sounds like you've found a great rotation — The Invigorating Shampoo for the thinning, The Exfoliating Shampoo for your sensitive scalp days, and the lavender one when you want that extra moisture and scent. No silicones, sulphates, or harsh chemicals across the board, so it makes sense your scalp is finally getting some peace.
And starting with the aluminum cans for the sustainability angle, then staying for the results — that's the whole thing we're trying to build.
Thank you again, Alison. Wishing you continued good things with your hair.
I have long, thick hair with oily roots and dry ends, but it’s starting to thin a little due to menopause. After chatting with The Powder Shampoo team on their live chat, they recommended trying a small pot of Hydrating Volume Conditioner For Fine, Dry & Thinning Hair Bergamot & Rosemary. However, it didn’t seem to work for my hair so I’ve since changed to Nourishing Repair Conditioner For Thick, Damaged & Frizzy Hair, combined with the Strengthening Shampoo For Normal & Sensitive Scalps Grapefruit & Probiotics - both of which suit my hair much better. Both conditioners I’ve tried can feel a little gritty when applied and it’s tempting to keep adding more. However, I’ve found if I add a few drops of water to the powder and rub it while it’s in my hand, then apply it to my hair, it goes much smoother and further. Because it’s light, it doesn’t weigh my hair down so it’s brought back my natural waves too! I’m allergic to SLS so this has been a game-changer and they were so light to take on holiday!
Hi Maxine,
Thank you for such a thorough one — and so glad the team could point you toward the right combo in the end. The Nourishing Repair Conditioner alongside the Strengthening Shampoo sounds like a much better match for thick, oily-rooted, dry-ended hair, especially through menopause-related thinning.
And you've landed on exactly the right technique, it really does make it smoother and stretch further than applying it dry.
Being SLS-free and this light for travel making a real difference for you, plus getting your natural waves back, is fantastic to hear. Thanks for sticking with us through the trial and error to find your fit, Maxine.

I admit I was skeptical at first, but when I used the shampoo on a recent trip, I was really pleased with it. The scent and lather are great, and my hair looked amazing. And it was soft and shiny. I am now using it regularly. Highly recommend.

Hydrating Volume Conditioner For Fine, Dry & Thinning Hair Bergamot & Rosemary 50g / 1.76oz
This is the perfect soap to travel with!!! It foams up nicely and smells great!
This is the only shampoo and conditioner that makes my mature hair shine and look healthy. A little goes a long way. A keeper for me.
Great lightweight shampoo that leaves my hair clean and bouncy, love it!
Just ordered the exfoliating powder shampoo. I've had the other shampoos before and really liked them but this one seems even better, it feels smoother and more lux
